Background
989 Sports was the sports label of 989 Studios (the former American branch of Sony Computer Entertainment) that was used on sports titles for PlayStation systems like the NFL GameDay series, the NBA ShootOut series, the NFL FaceOff series, and other sports titles. In 2006, it was folded into Sony Computer Entertainment of America. Since then, the SCEA label is now used on future sports titles like the MLB: The Show series.
1st Logo (July 15, 1998)
Logo: On a black background, we see "989 Sports" with a small "TM" symbol on the top left next to it. Under it is "Presents". Below the logo is a disclaimer saying "989 Sports is a trademark of Sony Computer Entertainment America Inc."
FX/SFX: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Appears on NFL Xtreme for PlayStation.

Logo: It's the same as the 989 Studios logo, except "STUDIOS" is replaced with "SPORTS". Plus, the word "SPORTS" appear quicker and later.
Variant: Starting in 2002, the logo was modified with "SPORTS" being bigger. Plus, an "R" symbol appears instead of the TM" symbol and is next to "SPORTS".
FX/SFX: Same as the 989 Studios logo.
Music/Sounds: The same music from the 989 Studios logo, but a crowd is heard cheering throughout, and the announcer this time says "989 Sports".
Availability: Seen on PlayStation sports video games, such as the NFL GameDay series, the NBA ShootOut series, the NHL FaceOff series, and other sports games starting with the '99 versions. It also appears on PlayStation 2 titles as well, including the USA version of Formula One 2001.
