Background

The American Broadcasting Company (ABC) is a television network, owned by Disney since 1996. They are not directly involved in game development, but Disney uses the logo on ABC-based licenses.

1st Logo (April 7-June 17, 2004)

Logo: The still ABC logo is seen along with Buena Vista Interactive's logo with a copyright stamp to Touchstone Television.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on Alias.

2nd Logo (October 5, 2006)

Logo: A curve runs around the ABC logo, which is colored brown. The logo then fades out.

Trivia: This logo is based on ABC's 2006-07 ident.

FX/SFX: The curve running.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on Desperate Housewives.

3rd Logo (October 23, 2007-June 22, 2010)

Nicknames: "Boring ABC Logo", "Pre-Start Here"

Logo: Just the 2007 ABC logo on a background, which varies by game:

  • On Wipeout: The Game for Nintendo DS, the background is black.
  • On the Dancing with the Stars video game, the background is white. The ABC logo is smaller in this variant.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on Wipeout: The Game for Nintendo DS. The white background variant appears on Dancing with the Stars.

4th Logo (February 26, 2008-June 22, 2010)

Nickname: "Start Here"

Logo: On a bright gray surface, a selection set emerges and rotates. It contains four ABC circles, each with a different device inside (two portables, a computer, and a TV). When the set shows us every picture, it compresses into a single circle with an arrow, which immediately reverts to the ABC logo. Water drops appear around, and the words "start here" are drawn to the right.

Trivia: This logo is based on the 2007-2008 ABC ident, created by Troika Design Group.

Variants:

  • A still print version is seen on Grey's Anatomy for NDS.
  • On Wipeout: The Game, the beginning part is cut off.

FX/SFX: The whole logo in CGI.

Music/Sounds: Several synth jingles and tapping sounds at the background, then the ABC jingle with a male voice saying "Anytime. Anywhere. ABC. Start Here". On Wipeout: The Game the very end of the beginning is heard somehow, and he just says "ABC. Start Here".

Availability: Appears on Lost: Via Domus, Grey's Anatomy and Wipeout: The Game.

5th Logo (October 11, 2011)

Nickname: "Start Here II"

Logo: The same water-rotating action as in the previous logo, but with some brown color tone. The background looks different here and the final result includes the ABC shield only.

Trivia: This logo is based on ABC's 2008-11 idents.

FX/SFX: Same as the previous logo.

Music/Sounds: Same concept as the previous logo, but with a different voice and no "start here".

Availability: Seen on Wipeout 2 for Wii.

6th Logo (September 25, 2012)

Nickname: "Start Here III"

Logo: Same as before, except the background is a mixture of brown and gold.

Trivia: This logo is based on ABC's 2011-13 idents.

FX/SFX: Same as before.

Music/Sounds: Same as before.

Availability: Seen on Wipeout 3 for Wii.

7th Logo (October 15, 2013)

Logo: Same as the 2013 ABC Entertainment logo, except "ABC ENTERTAINENT" and the copyright stamp are absent.

FX/SFX: Same as the 2013 ABC Entertainment logo.

Music/Sounds: Same as the 2013 ABC Entertainment logo, but when the logo zooms out, we hear the same male voice-over from the 5th logo saying "ABC".

Availability: Seen on Wipeout: Create and Crash for Wii U.
