AVID:Featured Media Nominations
Shortcut: |
---|
Featured media are images and videos determined by the community to be significant, rare or otherwise interesting logo finds. These aren't your ordinary film, television or home video logos. Featured images appear in the gallery on the main page. On this page users can nominate images to be featured and vote on candidates to receive this distinction.
How to use this page:
Click "Nominate", fill out the fields and submit your nomination. Users will then be able to vote in support or opposition to the image being featured. if an image or video recieves at least a support:oppose ratio of 2:1 (two thirds majority), it passes and the proper template is added by a bureaucrat.
We discourage submitting logos solely based on its visuals. All media need to be significant to the community in terms of obscurity.
Etiquette:
Please remain civil while using this page. Per site rules and the policy, please refrain from personal attacks when discussing these images and assume good faith.

Reason: The fact that the logo is unused tells a lot of things. Additionally, it is from a well known company, that being Universal. This is also significant, because it also shows that the 1960s logo was possibly going to be made using cels. VPJHuk (talk) 11:21, 27 January 2024 (UTC)

Reason:
Alright, this is going to be a bit of a big one. These three are continuation of a rabbit hole that was discovered a long time ago: Universal in a German talk show. For a while, it was unknown as to why the logo ended up being there, but now that was finally figured out. The show that was the origin of this rabbit hole was a German adaptation of a Multimedia program. Multimedia was then eventually bought out by Universal, and as such, several more versions of the logo were then made, and now those versions have been found. Reason: This is a very EARLY prototype that was recently spotted. This can also be seen as a valuable resource for the development of this logo, since it shows the idea of the cloud background being planned for use. VPJHuk (talk) 13:32, 13 January 2024 (UTC)

Reason: An exceedingly rare logo from a now-defunct home entertainment company; Eureka Video (The Australian branch, not the British one). The reason I think it's "exceedingly rare"? It lay undocumented for basically 20 years until I found it on a DVD of 'Night of the Living Dead'. Other releases from the time may have also had this logo, but I'm currently not sure. Reason: I am suprised nobody nominated these yet. Nothing much to talk about it, rather than describing on how the Revue logo randomly cuts to a end slate. - Oppose Although this is a new region so to speak, it isn't necessarily an interesting find, especially when it shares the same layout as the other Granada region and some of the co-production variants. Alternate text for specific regions are not unusual to see in the UK, so this is a case where it may be rare due to its focus on an undocumented division, but not unique whatsoever. Camenati (talk) 16:58, 3 January 2024 (UTC)
I do understand where you come from in regards to the fact it looks similar to Granada logos of the time in terms of layout, but I'd like to respectfully counter by saying that this region has been in hiding undiscovered for nearly 20 years which I find quite remarkable. I could understand the opposition to a rare division being found 1 or 2 years after the logo debuted, but I think it's exceptionally rare for one to crop up with no warning or hints about its existence almost 20 years later, as programming from the division would be long gone from television screens or other many other mediums (especially in the case of a more obscure documentary such as this). Reason: For five years, Nick Jr UK used the 'Paper' branding, featuring an ident set created by Studio AKA. Quite a few idents are considered to be lost, and others have only been partially found. Despite this, and out of nowhere, a DVR owned by Paiger was found to contain this very rare ident! I've known about this since September but wasn't able to share it until recently, I'm very excited that more idents from this very underrated set are now being found and I think this find deserves recognition. Huge shoutout to warriorglitchy too for being *the* Nick Jr UK archival person and for ripping this ident from the DVR. LoganStuff (talk) 13:38, 15 November 2023 (UTC)

- Comment: I suggest nominating the video capture instead of a screencap of it since that will lead to someone taking this nomination out of context and say it's already featured. The featured video is, from what I assume, likely your intention, but from the looks of how you formatted and described it, it feels like nominating an image of the logo rather than the full video. I can fill in the upload of the logo sequence to the wiki if you're unable to do it. Camenati (talk) 06:20, 14 November 2023 (UTC)
