Administrators should not use their administrator powers to settle editing disputes; for example, to lock a page on a version they prefer in an editing dispute that isn't vandalism. Administrator powers should be used to help keep the wiki clear of vandalism, spam, and users who make malicious edits, but not for simple disagreements between users acting in [https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Assume_good_faith good faith]. Ideally an admin shouldn't be considered "in charge". The ideal admin is just someone who is trusted to have a few extra buttons and to use them for the benefit of the community. |

Appointment and revocation
Eligibility
While there is no codified eligibility requirements, bureaucrats have guidelines set at AVID:Requests for Permissions on who is generally determined as eligible for Permissions.
Election
To request to become an administrator, please go to AVID:Requests for Permissions.
Once a vote is open, it must remain open for a minimum of 1 month and achieve a 70% support ratio in order for it to be called as successful.
Revocation
By precedent and convention, administrators may have their rights revoked by a simple majority vote which takes place in the Requests for Revocation section of the Requests for Permissions page.
