Background

A Couple 'A Cowboys was a game and television production company established in 1983 by Phillip Tanner and Brett Clements, two former reporters who met the previous year at an Australian television show called Simon Townsend's Wonder World.

After the local Australian success of their TV series Just for the Record, produced in 1988, they released an interactive VHS board game called Atmosfear (dubbed Nightmare in Australia) in the fall of 1991. Brett wrote and directed the game, while Phillip produced it. The VHS was distributed by Roadshow Home Video internationally. There were more versions of Atmosfear released as well. The company was disbanded after the release of Atmosfear: The Third Dimension, in 1995. Brett then moved to the US to start Extraordinary Aliens with Tim Vincent, but moved back to Australia in 2002 to work at PlatinumHD Propvid Australia. In 2003, Phillip revived the company and released a new version of Atmosfear in 2004.

1st Logo (1991-1995, 2003-)

Logo: On a black background, inside a purple box, we see what appears to be a painting of two pairs of cowboy legs sitting atop a balcony, overlooking a desert with three cacti and a moon above, all tinted purple. The painting has a curtain-shaped outline. Underneath the painting is the words "A COUPLE 'A COWBOYS" in a mountain shape.

Variants:

-There is also an early variant to the logo, where the painting is orange tinted and the moon is gone. the box is now white and "PRODUCTIONS AND PROMOTIONS" is added underneath the text.

-On Atmosfear: The Soul Rangers, the logo is in a blue tint and is less metallic, with "P R E S E N T S" underneath.

-On Atmosfear: The Third Dimension, the logo is shown with the EMG Publishing, Roadshow Entertainment and Tring Publishing logos. On international prints, the Philips logo replaces the Tring logo instead.

-On the app for Atmosfear, the logo appears as an in-credit version.

Trivia:

-The company is mentioned in the creepypasta based on their board game Rap Rat, but their name is misspelled as "A Couple of Cowboys". It also states that it went defunct in 1994, and was absorbed into Mattel. This makes no sense, as ACAC has always been independent, and was briefly disbanded in 1995 before its revival in 2003. In addition, J.W. Spear and Sons, operating as Spear's Games, distributed ACAC's games as a subsidiary of Mattel.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Rare. Seen on all their board games since The Truth Hurts!, but it never had an on-screen appearance until Atmosfear: The Soul Rangers.

Editor's Note: This logo shows the friendship of Brett and Phillip as well as their legacy. You might recognize this company as the people behind the notorously named Rap Rat. [[Category:]]
