Background

Alien Productions is the company that created ALF and two of the animated series, ALF Tales and ALF: The Animated Series.

1st Logo (September 22, 1986-March 24, 1990)

Nicknames: "The ALF Laugh"

Logo: As superimposed on ALF, we see the text:

alien productions

in a bold font. The copyright is below that.

Variant: On the unaired pilot episode, the laughing starts at the same time the credit changes to the logo before the music ends. Then after the logo, ALF appears up against a black starry background and says "BE THERE!".

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: The ending theme of ALF. Also, we hear ALF's laugh from the last bit of the first episode. In syndication, we would also either hear Brian Cummings or Jerry Bishop say "ALF is an Alien Production and is distributed by Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution".

Music/Sounds Variant: On the two part episode "Try to Remember", we would hear ALF's laugh as Wayne Schlagel instead of his usual laugh.

Availability: Seen on all episodes of ALF. The pilot variant can be found on the pilot episode as a special feature on the ALF Season 1 DVD.

2nd Logo (September 26, 1987-December 9, 1989)

Logo: On a black background, we see a circle with Alf (as he appears in the two ALF animated series) inside, a la Porky Pig, he says his trademark line, "HA! I kill me!" The text at the bottom says "Copyright [year] Alien Productions."

Technique: Traditional cartoon animation, by DiC.

Music/Sounds: Alf saying his line.

Availability: Seen on Alf Tales and ALF: The Animated Series, which can be found as special features on the ALF Season 2 DVD.
