Background

América Televisión is the oldest commercial television network in Peru, and the highest rated in the country. First founded in 1958, it switched to color in 1978 in time for the Argentina World Cup 1978. In 1992, Televisa acquired 42% of the network. Today it broadcasts its own programs, as well as imports from Televisa in Mexico, Univision in the US, and Telefe in Argentina.



1st ID (1978-1982)


Visuals: A spinning wireframe globe appears, followed by the word 'América.' The yellow and red background conforms to the silhouette of the word. The globe flies in, and the word 'televisión' is formed, with the globe taking the place of the ó in 'televisión'.

Technique: Scanimate.
