Background

América Televisión is the oldest commercial television network in Peru, and the highest rated in the country.

Radio America TV

1st Logo (1958)

Logo: A TV Tower on a globe centered on the Americas and the words Radio America TV Canal 4

Variants: Unknown.

Technique: Still image, or possibly Cel

Music/Sounds: Joe Reichman's "Moonlight Sonata"

Availability: Extinct.

Canal Cuatro

1st Logo (1969-1978)

Logo: The characters C4 in a ligature. Under it is the word "TELEVISION"

Variants: The C4 logo in a small tv tube shape and the words "CANAL CUATRO" and "EL CANAL DE LOS GRANDES *ESPECTACULOS* in a ring around it.

Technique: Same as before

Music/Sounds: Same as before

América Televisión

1st Logo (1978-1982)


Logo: A spinning wireframe globe, then the word "américa". The yellow and red background conforms to the silhouette of the word. The globe flies in and the word "televisión" is formed with the globe taking place of the ó in televisión.

Variants: None known.

Technique: Scanimate.

Music/Sounds: A disco tune with an announcer saying "Es el mundo de América Televisión, Canal 4, desde Lima.

Availability: Extinct.

2nd Logo (1980-1983)


Logo: The wireframe globe in red, with an outline of the Americas on it. The outline of the americas expands and the words "américa" and "televisión" appear.

Variants: A version where the "américa" text zooms in and leaves behind trails where the words "Poder integrador a nivel nacional" appears.

Technique: Scanimate.

Music/Sounds: A remixed version of the Moonlight Sonata by Edd Kalohoff, alternatively the campaign music "Si Llega"

Availability: Extinct.

3rd Logo (1983-1990)


Logo: On a space background, the individual sections of the globe come together. The globe becomes a wireframe, separates into smaller globes, and come back together, forming the sections. Inside the center space of the globe the words "américa televisión". The word "TELERED" in a red-yellow gradient appears and goes to the bottom of the screen where the text "PRIMERA TELERED DEL PERU" appears.

Variants: A longer version describing the "TELERED" system

Technique: Presumably scanimate.

Music/Sounds: The remix of Moonlight Sonata by Edd Kalohoff, with an announcer.

Availability: Extinct.
