Background

American World Pictures was an Los Angeles-based motion picture distributor and production company that was formed in 1993 by Mark L. Lester and Dana Dubovsky.

1st Logo (1995-2000)

Nickname: "The American World Globe"

Logo: On a black background, a bright light appears. A globe then spins from the top right and lands in the center (similar to the 1st Wiseau Films logo), until the globe settles on the light. Then the gold-orange words "AMERICAN WORLD PICTURES" zoom in from the center, and the globe continues to spin until it stops.

FX/SFX: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A majestic triumphant action-oriented fanfare. Sometimes, the logo is silent or has the opening theme of the movie playing over.

Availability: Seen on American World's feature films from the mid-to-late 1990s, like Night of the Running Man and The Base.

2nd Logo (2000-2010)

Nicknames: "The Orange Triangles", "The Orange American World"

Logo: On a orange background with a black planet behind it (meaning it was for the Sun), two orange triangles rotate from the center, and a circle wipes in the filmstrips from the bottom. The background then dims, and four triangles appear behind the orange triangles and the filmstrips. As the background turns black, the orange words "AMERICAN WORLD PICTURES" then wipe in.

FX/SFX: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A majestic theme that sounds similar to the 1990 Universal theme with whoosh sound effects. Sometimes its silent or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen on American World films from the 2000s, like The Base 2: Guilty as Charged, Haunting at the Beacon and One Long Night.

3rd Logo (2010-2015)

Nicknames: "AWP", "The Blue Light", "The Curve"

Logo: On a black background, a colored light appears, revealing that the blue colored letters "AWP" flip in from the screen, and zooming closer to the screen, with a purple glow behind it. As the text zooms closer, the purple light disappears and a flash is shown behind it. The flash then turns to the curve that draws behind the letters. The words "AMERICAN WORLD PICTURES" fade in and turn around for the letters and settle in the screen until it fades out.

Variant: On Piranhaconda, the logo forms slightly faster.

FX/SFX: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A whoosh, and a synth choir, and a pounding beat at the end with some more whooshes.

Music/Sounds Variants:

Sometimes, the logo is silent or has the opening theme of the movie playing over it.
The Piranhaconda variant features the sounds of the roar.

Availability: Seen on later movies by American World Pictures, like Curse of the Dragon.
