Background

Animal Planet, stylized in lowercase since 2018, is an American multinational pay TV channel owned by Warner Bros. Discovery Networks, a division of Warner Bros. Discovery. Established on June 1, 1996, it focuses on series and documentaries about wild animals and pets.

Originally a partnership with BBC Worldwide, the channel initially showcased family-friendly nature documentaries. In 2008, Animal Planet rebranded with a more mature approach, featuring aggressive animal portrayals and reality shows about animal-related careers. In October 2018, it rebranded again, moving away from the aggressive image.
