Background

Aramco Television was a Saudi Arabian television station operated by the Arabian American Oil Company (or ARAMCO for short). It was established on September 16, 1957, broadcasting in both Arabic and English. However, the channel became solely English when the Damman station went on the air in 1970. The station was closed on December 31, 1998.



1st logo (September 16, 1957-1976)


Visuals: On a white background, there is the text "ARAMCO" in a Western-style font. Below, there is a large number "2" with an outline and several curved stripes. To the right of the 2, there is the stacked text "HZ22-TV Dhahran".

Technique: Unknown.

Audio:: Unknown.

Availability: No on-screen footage of this logo is known to exist.

2nd ID (1982)


Visuals: On a white background, there is a black horizontal oval with three outlines of a circle with the middle two spinning on the z-axis. Also spinning is "CHANNEL 3".

Technique: Possibly Scanimate.

Audio: A two note warbling synth jingle.


3rd ID (1987-1991)

Visuals: On a purple pebble-patterned background, a gold rectangular prism containing "CHANNEL" and a large "3" (in Microgramma) fly in from the top left and bottom right respectively. As both stopped flying, "CHANNEL" is seen above "3".

Variant: A variant exists where the background is blue and has a different pattern. Additionally, the logo is hot pink.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: An exciting horn fanfare.
