Background

Artech Studios was a Canadian video game developer that was first formed in 1982. They were originally formed as Artech Digital Entertainment before becoming Artech Studios in 1993, though their original name still served as their corporate name. The company closed in 2011.

Logo (1999-2004)

Visuals: On a aquamarine blue or golden flashing background, two yellow ring lights appear, circling a spinning upside-down pyramid. And then, the pyramid slowly zooms in, along with the company name:

ARTECH
studios

When the logo finishes, the pyramid goes black, purple out-lined, and ripples.

Variants:

  • A variant without the circling lights exists.
  • On some games, the animation is slower and as a result, the music is out of sync.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synth tribal theme with males singing and twinkling throughout. At the very end, there is a Windows NT-like noise, then a whoosh as the logo disappears. The music was sung and created by Mark Mitchell, and it was created apparently around 1996, a few years before this logo was made.

Audio Variants:

  • On some games like Q*bert for PC, the whoosh at the end is missing.
  • On some later games like Wheel of Fortune for PS2, the music plays without any additional sound effects.

Availability: Seen on their videogames from the era, such as Q*bert and their Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy! games for PC, PS1 and PS2.
