Background

Aspect Film & Television was a British television production company that was formed in 1979 by Paul Sommers. It produced critically acclaimed documentaries and some TV shows. It was later merged with Tiger Television to form Tiger Aspect Productions in 1993.

1st Logo (1985-1989)

Visuals: On a black background, a white line expands out as a blue diamond zooms in. The light then flashes, forming the white text "A S P E C T" over the diamond. Extra credit information fades in below the logo.

Variant: On one programme (name is currently unknown), the logo fades from the final shot of a grinning green-skinned man, with the line positioned over it to make seem like his gold teeth were sparkling. The logo then moves into its usual position.

Technique: Analog CGI.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Seen on several Aspect documentaries and TV shows from the era, like Wax on Wheels.

2nd Logo (May 12, 1989-1991)

Visuals: On a white-blue gradient background, the same Aspect logo from before is seen, but the text is in black. Extra credit information is shown below the logo.

Technique: A still, digital graphic.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme.

Availability: Seen on Aspect's documentaries and TV shows like Hit & Run and the Q.E.D documentary Welcome to Fat Camp.

3rd Logo (1991-1993)

Visuals: On a gray marble background, the same diamond from before is shown, only this time it's in light blue, zooming out. The Aspect letters from the previous logo fade in letter by letter. Extra credit information fades in below the logo.

Technique: Analog CGI.

Audio: The ending theme of the programme or none.

Availability: Seen on later Aspect documentaries and TV shows from the era, like Road into Europe and On the Way to Monkey Bay.
