Background
This was the production company of Steve Martin, co-founded with production partner Bill McEuen and initial backing from Paramount Pictures.
1st Logo (December 14, 1979-August 9, 1985)
Visuals: On a black background, a circle containing a picture of the hills and mountains of Aspen, Colorado zooms out. It zooms out further into a rectangle, and after it stops, the words "Aspen Film Society" fade in below the circle.
Variant: On The Jerk and Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid, a still version is used. The circle has a outline and the text is in a different font.
Technique: Cel animation.
Audio: None, the closing theme of the movie or a whoosh.
Availability: Seen at the end of The Jerk, The Man with Two Brains, Pee-wee's Big Adventure, Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid and other films.
2nd Logo (March 4, 1988-September 15, 1989)
Visuals: Same as the previous logo, but only this time it zooms out into a filmstrip shining as it's moving to the left and then the words "ASPEN FILM SOCIETY" fade in but this time the words are in a perwinkle color and then the byline reading "A Division of WILLIAM E. McEUEN PRODUCTIONS".
Variant: On The Big Picture, the logo lacks the byline.
Technique: Cel animation.
Audio: None.
Availability: Seen at the end of Pulse (1988) and The Big Picture. This is not seen on Cold Dog Soup.
