Atari 2600

Background

The Atari 2600, initially branded as the Atari Video Computer System from its release until November 1982, is a home video game console developed and produced by Atari, Inc. Released in September 1977, it popularized microprocessor-based hardware and games stored on swappable ROM cartridges, a format first used with the Fairchild Channel F in 1976. The VCS was bundled with two joystick controllers, a conjoined pair of paddle controllers, and a game cartridge—initially Combat and later Pac-Man.

The logo in the second video starts at 0:25. The logo in the third video starts at 0:26.

Logo: We see the text "Atari" in the SF Atarian System font. Suddenly, the text "VI" "DE" "O" "COM" "PU" "TER" "SYS" "TEM" pops up along with the Atari "Fuji Mountain" logo in rainbow (almost like the two are being typed into the system). When the two are done, a flash appears at the bottom (a la Walt Disney Pictures) and turns the jumbled text into a complete sentence, "VIDEO COMPUTER SYSTEM".

Technique: 2D animation.

Music/Sounds: An electric piano jingle that turns orchestrated. This jingle is known as the "Have you played Atari today" jingle. A chorus sings "Have you played Atari today?" while the jingle turns orchestrated.

Music/Sounds Trivia: Atari's console, Jaguar, has the jingle play during a boot screen with the Atari name.
