Background
Atlas Entertainment is the production company of Charles Roven. It was originally formed in 1995 from the merger of Roven and Bob Cavallo's previous company and Steel Pictures, owned by Roven's wife Dawn Steel. In 1999, after Cavallo left the company to join Walt Disney Studios and Steel died, Atlas was merged with Gold/Miller Management to create Mosaic Media Group. In 2008, Roven split off his ties from Mosaic, and relaunched Atlas Entertainment with a first-look deal at Sony Pictures.
1st Logo (January 16-April 10, 1998)
Logo: On a black background, we see a big yellow "A", having three ledges to the right, which resemble the letter "E". Below, the name "ATLAS ENTERTAINMENT" is seen.
Variant: On Fallen, the logo is orange instead.
Technique: None.
Music/Sounds: None.
Availability: Appeared on City of Angels and Fallen after the ending credits.
2nd Logo (February 12, 2009-July 6, 2018)
Logo: We see a gleaming image of a rotating globus, depicting Earth in ancient scripts. Shreds of white steam pass around as the camera zooms out, and the globus turns glowing white. It lies on the shoulders of a man, a reference to the Greek mythological figure Atlas. The silver words "ATLAS ENTERTAINMENT" are seen below in Relief font.
Variants:
- At the end of Scooby-Doo! Curse of the Lake Monster and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, the logo is still.
- At the beginning of American Hustle, the logo is given a 1970s retro look to correspond with the movie's time period.
Technique: CGI, created by OMSTUDIOS.
Music/Sounds: A quiet synth note with air-like sounds, composed by Tom Tykwer, Johnny Klimek, and Reinhold Heil, or the opening/closing theme of the movie. None for the still version.
Availability: It first appeared on The International and later appeared at the end of films such as Warcraft, Suicide Squad, Wonder Woman and Justice League. It also appeared on the TV series adaptation of 12 Monkeys.
3rd Logo (March 3, 2019- )
Logo: On a space background, we see a globe emitting a blue aura. We pan down to reveal a man (this one more closely resembling the Greek Titan Atlas) once again holding up the globe. As the camera zooms out, and unlike the last logo, the man manages to lift the globe up above him with one arm. The words "ATLAS" in a Trajan font and "ENTERTAINMENT" in an Avenir Next font zoom out.
Variants:
- On Wonder Woman 1984, the logo is shortened.
- A sped-up version of this logo exists.
Technique: CGI animation.
Music/Sounds: None or the opening theme of the movie. On Uncharted, it used an ominous and dramatic theme.
Availability: It first appeared on Triple Frontier and the TV series What/If. It later appeared at the end of films like Wonder Woman 1984 and The Suicide Squad. It also appeared on season 2 of Dirty John. Currently seen at the beginning of Uncharted.
