Background
Attic Entertainment Software GmbH was a German video game developer and publisher founded in September 1990 by Hans-Jürgen Brändle, Jochen Hamma and Guido Henkel in Albstadt, Baden-Württemberg. They went out of business in 2001. Attic's most famous games were the Realms of Arkania trilogy, a series of role-playing games based on the popular German tabletop game Das Schwarze Auge.
1st Logo (1990-December 7, 1995)
Visuals: On a black background, a blue book-shaped pattern slowly rises from the water. A circle is shown on the book and a bat shadow over it. The name "attic" appears below on the book.
Technique: Sprite-based animation.
Audio: None.
Availability: Seen on early games by Attic such as Quickly Lords of Doom and Realms of Arkania: Blade of Destiny.
2nd Logo (1996)
Visuals: A shining dot zooms in the center of the screen, and four blue shapes fly from the side to take their place behind each other. The dot zooms into a gray circle placed over the shapes, and a blue bat emerges flying, then freezes still on the circle. The word "attic" appears in the whole width and zooms in below the logo.
Technique: Computer animation.
Audio: None.
Availability: Appeared only on the demo version of Realms of Arkania III.
3rd Logo (December 1996-1997)
Visuals: On a waving red background, a bright splash of light occurs and a pack of red-eyed bats fly out of it towards the viewer. The red matter moves away like water, revealing a brown background with the 3D book-shaped Attic logo on it.
Technique: A mix of 2D and CGI.
Audio: A dramatic beating synth with the sound of wings, fading at the end.
Availability: Seen on Realms of Arkania III: Shadows over Riva and Herrscher der Meere.
