Background

The Australian Children's Television Foundation (ACTF) is an Australian non-profit children's media production company founded in 1982 by Patricia Edgar based in Fitzroy, Victoria.

Logo (1985-)

Visuals: There is a yellow circle-square hybrid. On the bottom left corner, the top of a pink head with black dotted eyes and part of its mouth in the same colour is shown smiling. Next to it is the text "AUSTRALIAN CHILDREN'S" and "TELEVISION FOUNDATION" below in a black Arial font.

Variants:

  • There is an early version where the outlines as well the person's eyes and mouth are faded and thinner.
  • There is a version where each of the words in the company's name is positioned one by one.
  • There is another version where the text is shown below the logo.
  • There is yet another version where the text is in a different typeface and is in lowercase where it is stacked crookedly.
  • Another version is depicted in lowercase and different typeface where the words in the company's name is positioned one by one.
  • On Yolngu Boy, the logo is shown entirely in outlines.
  • Starting in 2006, the logo is occasionally shown in CGI.
  • There is a Christmas themed version where the person is wearing a Santa hat.
  • There is a Halloween themed version where the person is depicted as an anthropomorphic pumpkin.
  • There is a version of the logo that is entirely round and has thick outlines as well the person. There is also a version of it depicting the Christmas variant and another that is LGBTQ themed.

Technique: A still, printed image.

Audio: Either the ending theme or silence.

Availability: Seen on many Australian children's shows, some examples including Flea Bitten, Round the Twist and Waabiny Time.

Legacy: This logo is highly synonymous with Australian children's programming.
