Background

Avala Film was one of the most active film producers in Yugoslavia, and one of the 2 main film production houses of Yugoslavia, with the other being Jadran Film. They have produced 443 films until their start of inactivity in 2000.

1st Logo (October 30, 1949-October 23, 1985)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a bordered pentagon, with the words "AVALA" and "FILM". Both words are sheared to the top. Below the pentagon there's a filmstrip with "BEOGRAD" on the center. "PRIKAZUJE" may also be seen below.

Standard Variants:

  • Their early films have the logo in Cyrillic, starting with Decak Mit.
  • The style of "PRIKAZUJE" may differ.
    • Most of the time, it is in a thin, lowercase format.
    • Vreme ljubavi has it all capitalized.
    • Nema malih bogova and Prvi gradanin male varosi) have "Prikazuje" in a cursive font.
  • On Sreca u torbi, the filmstrip is grey and "B E O G R A D" is in white and more spaced out. Both "BEOGRAD" and "PRIKAZUJE" also changed their fonts.
  • Starting in 1963, "PRIKAZUJE" has been removed.
  • Starting with Tople godine, the logo became thinner.
  • Colorized variants also exist.
    • On Kad golubovi polete, the logo is placed on an olive background.
    • On Bombasi, Nije Nego and Timocka buna, the logo is placed on a red background.
  • A totalscope variant exists on 4 kilometra na sat.
  • Later variants have the words "AVALA FILM" thinner, and "BEOGRAD" being bold and in between dashes. There is also a circle on the top with the words "CENTRALNI FILMSKI STUDIO KOSUTNIAK JUGOSLAVIJA BEOGRAD".

In-credit Variants:

  • Most of the time, the logo is placed against the opening scene of the film.
  • On Zajednicki stan, the logo is black and more simplistic-looking, which is placed against a white background with "PRIKAZUJE" in a cartoonish font sitting below.
  • On Izbiračica, the logo along with "PRIKAZUJE" on the right is placed within an orange oval with a white stictched pattern around it.
  • On Put oko sveta, the logo is in orange and zooms in for a short period of time.

2nd Logo (May 7, 1989)

Visuals: Over a black background, the logo starts with 3 golden pentagons overlapping each other with "proizvodnja" on top. "AVALA FILM" on the bottom then wipes in underneath in a vertical manner.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: The opening theme of the film.

Availability: Only seen on Kako je propao rokenrol.
