Background
Avala Film was one of the most active film producers in Yugoslavia, and one of the 2 main film production houses of Yugoslavia, with the other being Jadran Film. They have produced 443 films until their start of inactivity in 2000.
1st Logo (October 30, 1949-October 23, 1985)
Visuals: On a black background, there is a bordered pentagon, with the words "AVALA" and "FILM". Both words are sheared to the top. Below the pentagon there's a filmstrip with "BEOGRAD" on the center. "PRIKAZUJE" may also be seen below.
Standard Variants:
- Their early films have the logo in Cyrillic, starting with Decak Mit.
- The style of "PRIKAZUJE" may differ.
- Most of the time, it is in a thin, lowercase format.
- Vreme ljubavi has it all capitalized.
- Nema malih bogova and Prvi gradanin male varosi) have "Prikazuje" in a cursive font.
- On Sreca u torbi, the filmstrip is grey and "B E O G R A D" is in white and more spaced out. Both "BEOGRAD" and "PRIKAZUJE" also changed their fonts.
- Starting in 1963, "PRIKAZUJE" has been removed.
- Starting with Tople godine, the logo became thinner.
- Colorized variants also exist.
- On Kad golubovi polete, the logo is placed on an olive background.
- On Bombasi, Nije Nego and Timocka buna, the logo is placed on a red background.
- A totalscope variant exists on 4 kilometra na sat.
- Later variants have the words "AVALA FILM" thinner, and "BEOGRAD" being bold and in between dashes. There is also a circle on the top with the words "CENTRALNI FILMSKI STUDIO KOSUTNIAK JUGOSLAVIJA BEOGRAD".
In-credit Variants:
- Most of the time, the logo is placed against the opening scene of the film.
- On Zajednicki stan, the logo is black and more simplistic-looking, which is placed against a white background with "PRIKAZUJE" in a cartoonish font sitting below.
- On Izbiračica, the logo along with "PRIKAZUJE" on the right is placed within an orange oval with a white stictched pattern around it.
- On Put oko sveta, the logo is in orange and zooms in for a short period of time.
Technique: A still, printed image.
Audio: A 2-note loud brass fanfare, or silent.
Availability: Since this company was the most prominent when it comes to post-Serbian films, this was seen on most films during its timespan.
- The Cyrillic variants made its appearances on Pionir i dvojka, Decak Mit, Daleko je sunce and Pesma sa Kumbare.
- The standard variant was seen on most of its filmography, starting with Bila sam jaca, and lastly on Hey Babu Riba.
- The colorized variants were seen on Kad golubovi polete, Bombasi, Nije Nego and Timocka buna.
2nd Logo (May 7, 1989)
Visuals: Over a black background, the logo starts with 3 golden pentagons overlapping each other with "proizvodnja" on top. "AVALA FILM" on the bottom then wipes in underneath in a vertical manner.
Technique: Cel animation.
Audio: The opening theme of the film.
Availability: Only seen on Kako je propao rokenrol.
