Background
Black Label Games was a short-lived publishing label of Vivendi Universal Games, which focused on titles aimed at the more mature gamer, described as "innovative, high-quality titles to satisfy the growing consumer appetite for increasingly sophisticated content."
1st Logo (placeholder logo) (August 20, 2002)
Visuals: The words "BLACK" and "LABEL" are revealed in a beaming blue light. Then, an oval rectangle appears around, and the word "GAMES" in a silver bar. The logo glows and fades away.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: Stormy sounds.
Availability: Only appears on The Thing for PlayStation 2, Xbox and Windows.
2nd Logo (September 24, 2002-June 17, 2003)
Visuals: A bright blue-toned flash occurs and folds into the name, then another splash forms the oval rectangle around, now colored in gray.
Variant: On Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter, the logo is still.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A harsh wind sound, followed with cork sticking.
Availability: Appears on three games: The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring for PS2, Xbox and Windows, the North American Windows release of Enclave (European version uses the Swing! Entertainment logo) and Mace Griffin: Bounty Hunter for PS2, Xbox and Windows.
