Background

Bold Films is a production company founded in 2004 by Belgian-Russian businessman Michel Litvak. In 2006, producer David Lancaster joined the company as co-president. After Lancaster left the company in 2014 to form the production company Rumble Films, Litvak regained control of the company. The company formed a London office in 2015, but it was later closed in 2018.

1st Logo (April 26, 2005-September 6, 2008)

Visuals: A shirtless man is standing on a rocky beach. He jumps up into space, flipping as he does so. The text

B O L D
F I L M S

zooms out, the "O" centering on the man. The earth can be seen at the bottom.

Technique: It seems to be a combination of live-action and CGI.

Audio: A resounding violin fanfare.

Availability: It debuted on Slingshot (the company's first film) and was last seen on Middle of Nowhere.

2nd Logo (January 22, 2010-)

Visuals: On a black background, smoke appears and forms a "B". The smoke then proceeds to form the letters "O", "L", and "D" as well, with each letter getting increasingly bolder in font. The word "F I L M S" appears when the logo is formed. A splash then occurs and the logo reverts back to the smoke, which soon disappears.

Variants:

  • A still version is seen at the end of the films.
  • On Black Box, the word "F I L M S" is replaced by "T E L E V I S I O N".

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A mysterious chorus with a thud, none or the opening theme of the movie. Original ABC airings of Black Box used a generic theme and voiceover.

Availability: It debuted on the 2010 film Legion (the company's first major studio film), and appeared on every film produced since like Nightcrawler, Drive, Whiplash, Stronger, Oslo and No Escape among others. The "Television" variant is seen on the short-lived ABC series Black Box.
