Background

Breakthrough Entertainment (formerly Breakthrough Films & Television) is a Canadian production company founded in 1986 by Peter Williamson and Ira Levy. It produces TV shows such as Jimmy Two-Shoes and Atomic Betty. On July 10, 2018, 9 Story Media Group acquired the company's kids and family library and development state.

Somewhere in 2023, Breakthrough Entertainment was acquired by Shadow Pines Studios. This meant that employees at the company would be shifting to new positions at Shadow Pines Studios, and that they would also manage Breakthrough's existing catalogue.

1st Logo (September 15, 1997-June 6, 1999)

Visuals: There is a field of grass and trees near a lake, with the water rippling a little. The company name in yellow with "Produced in association with" in white above is seen in front.

Trivia: The background used here was taken from the closing credits of The Adventures of Dudley the Dragon, which used an in-credit notice.

Technique: Live-action.

Audio: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Found on The Mr. Men Show (the North American version of the 1995 CITV series Mr. Men and Little Miss).

2nd Logo (2000-March 23, 2004)

Visuals: Against a gradient background with the top half dark blue and the bottom half light blue, there are some crudely drawn trees in the bottom left corner and four searchlights at each side of the screen. Above, there is a stylized dark blue text with white outline that reads "BREAKTHROUGH" in a '30s Art Deco font. The URL "www.breakthrough.com" is seen in the bottom right corner in smaller lettering.

Technique: 2D animation.

Audio: The end theme of the show.

Availability: Seen on Swap TV and the first season of Kenny vs. Spenny.

3rd Logo (August 29, 2004-)

Visuals: On a white background, a green outline of a square with rounded edges and the bottom left corner unfinished is drawn in, which is big enough to fill the screen. When finished, a smaller version of the square with the text "Breakthrough" below the square and the small text "FILMS & TELEVISION" zooming in slowly below "Breakthrough" fades in. The big square fades out as this happens. Then, the logo fades out.

Variants:

For the logo's later use, "FILMS & TELEVISION" is replaced with "ENTERTAINMENT".
On all three seasons of Atomic Betty (the first show to use this logo), the logo plays in warp speed.
On Pirate Express, a still in-credit version is used.
On Kenny vs. Spenny (seasons 2-4), the logo is white and still on a black background. The company's website is written below.
On The Big Fun Crafty Show, the logo has a black background.
Sometimes, a scope version exists on the company's movies.
