Disney.com (October 25, 1999-May 2, 2000)

Bumper: On a black background, a white spark writes out the "Disney" script logo in red, then the letters ".com" fall one-by-one beside it, while a round-sided yellow banner (with a blue border) with the words "WHERE THE MAGIC LIVES ONLINE" fades in below it, and a red ball with a yellow Disney "D" symbol materializes and spins above it. The ball then zooms in and exits left to reveal the Disney.com homepage. A "hand" cursor clicks on a label reading "MOVIES" to go to that page, and then clicks on a label reading "ON VIDEO & DVD", which brings forth a screen with a theater marquee with "Disney's" above it; the marquee reads "NEW RELEASES", then the words slide left to make way for "COMING ATTRACTIONS". The scene then cuts to a different page, which shows an image of a box-office window labelled "Special Offers" (featuring Mickey Mouse reaching his arm out from the hole and holding a ticket). Below the window is a white space reading "NOW SHOWING!", which is then replaced by a quick montage of Disney video covers. Afterwards, the black screen with the "D" ball zooms in, and white sparks travel down the ball and bring forth the "Disney.com" text and banner from before. Finally, the entire logo zooms out a bit as a copyright notice and the Go Network "green light" logo (with the words "part of" and "go.com" placed on either side of it) fade in below.

Variants:

  • On releases from January-February 2000, several changes were made. First, the "D" ball transitions to a search bar with "Disney.com" being typed into it, and the "Enter" button is clicked to bring forth the homepage. The "Movies" and "Video & DVD" pages are updated to promote Tarzan, and the cursor now clicks on "Coming Attractions" and "Special Offers" from the site menu to bring forth those pages. Finally, the Go Network logo was removed, as Disney stopped promoting its failed search engine around that time.
  • Starting in March 2000, a few more changes were made. The homepage is updated, and the "Movies" label now reads "Movies & Videos". The "Coming Attractions" and "Special Offers" pages have also been updated.
  • On early pressings of Tarzan, the Go Network notice is there, but its logo was replaced by the words "GO Network" in plain white letters. This was due to Disney being forced to abandon the logo over a lawsuit by search engine GoTo.com, who alleged that the logo infringed on theirs.

Technique: The various logo animations and scene transitions.

Music/Sounds: A hip-hop instrumental plays throughout, while an announcer (Mark Elliott) says one of the following spiels:

Click on the 'Movies' channel and go to 'Video & DVD' for the latest information on new releases, coming attractions, special offers and more. To see it all, come to where the magic lives online. Be our guest at Disney.com, part of Go Network!"
  • 2nd Variant: "Find out more about Disney movies and videos! Just type in "Disney.com", the #1 family site on the web! Click on the 'Movies' (later 'Movies & Videos') channel and go to 'Video & DVD' for the latest information on new releases, coming attractions, special offers and more. To see it all, come to where the magic lives online. Be our guest at Disney.com!"
  • Tarzan variant: "Find out more about Disney movies like Tarzan. Just type in Disney.com, the #1 family site on the Web. Click on the 'Movies' channel and go to 'Video & DVD' for the latest information on new releases, coming attractions, special offers and more. To see it all, come to where the magic lives on online. • Tarzan variant (early pressings): "Find out more about Disney movies like Tarzan. Just type in Disney.com, the #1 family site on the Web. Click on the 'Movies' channel and go to 'Video & DVD' for the latest information on new releases, coming attractions, special offers and more. To see it all, come to where the magic lives on online. Be our guest at Disney.com, part of Go Network!"

Video.com (2000)

Bumper: Following brief glimpses of a countdown leader and the SMPTE color bars, we get a rapid-fire montage of scenes from various Touchstone/Hollywood/Miramax/Dimension films, accompanied by various flashes and image distortions. During the montage, a white bar appears on the bottom of the screen with the next "Video.com" inside it (the logo also has electricity animating inside it); the words "STARS", "INTERVIEWS", "TRAILERS" and "PHOTOS" also appear over footage of a helicopter scanning the Hollywood sign at nighttime. Following the montage, the Video.com logo appears over a fuzzy background of bright lights. The text then flips downward and the scene transitions to black like an old TV turning off.

Technique: The flashes and distortions to the film clips, the lightning in the Video.com logo, and the screen "turning off".

Music/Sounds: High-octane action music plays throughout, accompanied by various beeps, dings and zaps. An announcer, whose voice is slightly distorted, says "For everything you want to know about the hottest movie titles, log onto Video.com, your ultimate movie source".

Availability: Appears on several non-Disney titles from Buena Vista labels, such as The Cider House Rules, High Fidelity, Gone in 60 Seconds, and Down to You.]
