Background

Bungalow 78 Productions was founded in 1987 by Newhart producer Barry Kemp.

1st Logo (March 15, 1988-May 14, 1997)

Nickname: "The Houses", "Lights Out!"

Logo: We see two small, lit up white houses on a suburban street at night. "a Bungalow 78 production" is at the bottom in a white script font. The lights are turned off in the houses and the street becomes dark.

FX/SFX: It's all live-action.

Music/Sounds: The end-title theme from any show.

Availability: Rare. Currently seen on Coach on Reelz Channel and local syndication. Also seen on the series, Princesses, Coming of Age and Delta, among others.

2nd Logo (February 20, 1999-May 30, 2005)

Nickname: "The Sunburst"

Logo: On a black background, a flashing spark flies to the right, forming "Bungalow 78 productions" in the same font as before. The spark disappears when the logo is fully formed, which then shines while "78" emits a big orange light, resembling a sunburst.

FX/SFX: The spark flying, the text flashing and shining, the sunburst flashing and fading out.

Music/Sounds: None or the generic network theme.

Availability: Extinct. Seen possibly on A Minute with Stan Hooper. Also seen on the made-for-TV movie Romy & Michele: In the Beginning and the 1999 unsold pilot of Love, American Style.
