Warning: On a powder blue background appears a large white "WARNING" at the top and the CIC Video logo at the bottom. Between them is white warning text scrolling upward.

Variants: There is an early version without the chain on the "I". On pre-1986 releases, the warning text does not scroll and the text is different. The words "Not for sale or hire in Australia and New Zealand" were not seen until 1987. The variant without those exact words can be seen 1986 printings of Back to the Future (Universal) and Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom (Paramount).

FX/SFX: The scrolling of the text, on post-1986 releases of course.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on CIC Video releases of the era. There is evidence to suggest that CIC's first release of a Universal film was that of Jaws and its first release of a Paramount film was that of Saturday Night Fever; this would mean that the warning debuted on original pressings of both films. (Universal releases from CIC ran in a sequence beginning with 1001 and Paramount releases from CIC ran in a sequence beginning with 2001.) One of the last releases with this warning was the 1989 VHS of Biloxi Blues.

Editor's Note: None.

Warning: On the same space background as the 1986-1991 CIC Video logo, "WARNING" fades in at the top in white. Below it, generic warning text (also in white) scrolls upward.

FX/SFX: The scrolling of the text.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on CIC Video releases of the era.

3rd Warning (1991-1997) CIC Video Warning Screen (1992-1997)CIC Video Warning Screen (1992-1997)

Warning: On a black/blue gradient background, we see the word "WARNING" and generic warning text in a white Times New Roman font.

Variants: At the end of tapes, the text is longer and everything scrolls upward. Post-1994 releases use a plain different font called Helvetica. Different countries had similar text in their own languages. On Australian VHS releases, the word "WARNING" may not be underlined. Until 1994, it segues to the 1991 CIC Video logo. It can be seen on 1991 releases of Star Trek: The Next Generation episodes.

FX/SFX: None in the regular version, the scrolling in the alternative scrolling variant.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on CIC Video releases of the era.

Editor's Note: None.

4th Warning (1997-2001)

Warning: On the same aurora background as the 1997-2000 CIC Video logo, we see the word "WARNING" and generic text in a white Russell Square Regular font. Behind it is a faded "CIC" in its familiar font. At the end of the tapes, a longer set of warning text scrolls up with the faded CIC.When the text is already finished scrolling up, the background stays on for 2 seconds before it fades out.

Variants: On early DreamWorks Home Entertainment releases, technically under the CIC Video label, the faded "CIC" was removed. From 2000-2001, it was reused for Paramount releases. At the end of DreamWorks tapes, when the text is already finished scrolling up, the background fades out early. At the end of 2000-2001 Paramount tapes, when the text finished scrolling up, the background stays on for a split second.

FX/SFX: The aurora background.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on 1997-2000 CIC Video releases and remained on international Paramount releases until 2001.

Editor's Note: None.
