Background
Although the network began in 1961, they didn't start using a closing logo until 1998.
1st Logo (1998)
Nickname: "CTV in the Sky", "CTV Ribbons"
Logo: Over a video of a setting with plants (possibly wheat or dry grass) and an orange sky, we see the CTV logo (which consists of a red circle with a "C", a blue square with a "T" and a green triangle with a "V") at the center, with ribbons flowing from behind them. The ribbons correspond to the colors of the shapes.
Trivia: This logo is based off CTV's on-air identity in use from 1998 to 2011.
Variants:
- From 1998-2004, "CANADIAN TELEVISION" faded in below the logo.
- From 2001-2004, a Bell Globemedia byline is added. Sometimes it had the byline on the bottom right, while most of the time, it was in the bottom center.
- From 2004 on, there is no text below the CTV logo and the letters in "CTV" appear smaller. The background also moves left instead of right.
FX/SFX: The flowing ribbons. This was produced by Pittard Sullivan.
Music/Sounds: A high new age-style synth note that is held throughout the logo, or a less sudden version with more woodwinds. Sometimes, a male announcer says "CTV: Canadian Television", and sometimes it had the end theme of the show.
Availability: Both versions can be seen on Degrassi: The Next Generation on CTV in Canada and Netflix in the US (and most likely on Pluto TV), and Corner Gas on The Comedy Network in Canada and DVD (the first season had the 2001 version, while the rest of the show had the second variation), as well as on IMDB TV. The 1998 version is seen on Starz Encore Westerns' airings of the 2000 TV movie Hound of the Baskervilles. The 2004 version was also seen on Instant Star.
Editor's Note: The music could catch some off guard.
