It was founded on April 30, 1949, and its headquarters are located in the Marunouchi Trust Tower Main in Marunouchi, Chiyoda, Tokyo. It launched operations at a new plant in the United States for making its mainstay products "Kappa Ebisen" shrimp chips and "Saya-endo" snow pea crisps on September 18, 2007. Another popular snack they sell is potato fries, called "Jagabee". Its snacks are hugely popular in Asia and are well-known in the United States.



1st Tag (1995-2007)

Visuals:

  • Opening: On a black background with a spotlight, the Calbee logo, which is the red word "Calbee", slides in from the left of the screen and stops in the center, with a shadow before the logo.
  • Closing: Over a white background, the logo starts with the Calbee logo. After a couple of seconds, both "e"s jump.

Variants:

  • At the end of some commercials, the "e"s jump slower.
  • On 16x9 commercials, the closing variant's background is horizontally stretched to fit the aspect ratio. The Calbee logo is also flat and in a darker shade of red, and further away from the screen.

Technique: CGI or (in the case of the 16x9 version) 2D animation.

Audio:

  • Opening: Just a whistling sound.
  • Closing: A female choir singing "Calbeeee..." and 2 drum beats.

Availability: Seen on commercials from the time such as "The Calbee Dog". The opening variant appeared at the beginning of commericals until at least 1998.

Visuals: There is the Calbee logo over a scene of the commercial.
