Canal+ Live is a set of channels part of Canal+'s offerings which launched in its current form on September 10th 2024, replacing most of Canal+'s over-the-top sport channels as well as the Multisports subscription service. Named and numbered from Live 1 to Live 19, these channels provide coverage of various sport events in tandem with Canal+ and its sport channels. Only Live 1 to Live 10 are available on satellite, while Live 11 to Live 19 are available on cable and over-the-top services.
As such, Canal+ Live carries the programming from its over-the-top predecessors, a set of five online-only channels which launched starting in 2019. These channels could be seen on Canal+'s streaming and catch-up service, myCanal. At the time of Canal+ Live's launch, on September 10th 2024, this set of channels was comprised of:
Canal+ Premier League is the only channel of this set that remains available.
In addition, Canal+ Live also inherits the programming of the Multisports service, comprised of former pay-per-view services Foot+ and Rugby+ along with sister channel Golf+. This includes Padel competitions, in which Multisports channels were branded as Padel+. Golf+ is the only channel of this service that remains available, due to being a standalone 24/7 channel from the get-go.
Visuals: Across a black background illuminated by neons of several colors are different people practicing a specific sport. Wave-like neons also move across the screen, in-between the vertical ones. The wave-like neons then converge into a rectangle with an upwards horizontal side on the bottom, showcasing the channel's subtitle, as the Canal+ text flashes letter-by-letter, appearing above.
Variants: Depending on the channel, their respective color and sport will be represented. For example, if you're watching Canal+ Premier League or Ligue 1, you'll see football players practicing. Color-wise, the wave-like neons will always take on the channel's corresponding color. However, the vertical neons will always include other colors to compliment it. The only major exception is Canal+ Ligue 1, which uses light green neons.
Technique: CGI and live-action, based on Canal+ Sport.
Audio:
Audio Trivia: Canal+ Moto GP and Canal+ Formula 1's themes originate from the main channel's Moto GP and Formula 1-related broadcasts. Canal+ Moto GP's version lacks the vocals of its original counterpart.
Availability: While archival websites do not have a lot of branding elements for each of these channels, their breakfillers, countdowns and one or two idents have been preserved, along with a trailer or coming next. In addition, a trailer in the style of Canal+'s sport promos shown on Canal+ Ligue 1 (likely the DAZN version as it has been uploaded on October 20th) has been preserved.
Visuals: On a black background illuminated by white neons, text in a Futura Bold Oblique font fades in the center of the screen, reading:
Variants: Specific neon colors are tied to specific programming, much like the previous OTT channels.
When a channel has a large schedule, the color is taken based on which type of programming takes up most of the schedule.
For example, LIVE 5 could be broadcasting Formula 1 races and Top 14 matches but would use red due to the former taking up most of its schedule.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A 5-note cymbal followed by a 2-hit drum repeated through the track, before an ascending synth follows along the cymbal then finishing with 3 hits from the drum.
Audio Variant: An extended version of the main audio is played when showing the breakfiller or the schedule for each channel.
Availability: A single ident is available on archival websites, along with the breakfillers and the schedule.
