Background

In September 1999, Carlton acquired ARD's share in Hamdon Entertainment and renamed the company as Carlton America, becoming the linchpin of Carlton’s TV production activities throughout North America. With the merger of Carlton Communications and Granada Media Group in place, Granada announced in November 2003 that Carlton America would merge with Granada Entertainment USA to form Granada America.
