Background
Carousel Films was an educational film & home media distribution company, operating around the 60s to the 80s. It was known for distributing CBS News and ABC News outputs for educational rights, as well as distributing educational 16mm films from other educational film companies.
Logo (1958?-1983?)
Visuals: On a navy blue background, a yellow drawing of a carousel is seen in the center of the screen, with several areas cut out of it to create a repeating pattern. Then, "CAROUSEL FILMS, INC." in white fades in over the carousel, which darkens into the background, and then "PRESENTS" fades in below it.
Variants:
- A version used for distribution purposes exists, where the carousel is placed above the center to make room for "DISTRIBUTED BY CAROUSEL FILMS, INC." in a stacked form.
- There is a black and white variant.
Technique: Fading effects.
Audio: A timpani roll plays throughout, with a regal-sounding trumpet fanfare playing twice over it.
Music Sounds Variant: None for the distribution variant.
Availability: This was seen on some educational films from the 70s-80s, mainly on CBS News films and others, like J.T., The Captain Is A Lady, and Eastern Mystics Of The Golden West. The opening variant was seen on Mothers and Daughters (1969). Check on Internet Archive, WorldCat or YouTube websites for more infos.
