Background

Cinemateca Uruguaya is a non-profit film company founded in April 21, 1952 in Montevideo, Uruguay. Their goal is to support the cultural development of art and cinema. It has archived 11,500 films, including over 2,000 Uruguayan films. In 1995, Cinemateca Uruguaya received the Premio Morosoli, an cultural award. Area of activities include film preservation, school of cinema, cinemas, and documentation.
