Background
Coliseum Entertainment was a subsidiary of Cookie Jar Entertainment (now WildBrain) that was geared towards producing action-adventure shows for older children than what was Cookie Jar's normal demographic at the time (with shows like Gerald McBoing Boing and The Doodlebops). It shut down in 2008.
Logo (October 2, 2004-May 12, 2007)
Visuals: On a blueish gradient background, the screen zooms into a CG model of the Roman Colosseum and go through the corridors. The screen then zooms out from above from which the model fades into a blue border and 3 yellow swooshes. Red streaks wipe in the word "COLISEUM" beside the border and the swooshes rotate up to form a stylized C. The logo turns 2D. In the background is a picture of the Colosseum and below is "Coliseum is a trademark of Cookie Jar Entertainment Inc." and the URL "www.coliseumentertainment.com".
Variants:
- Sometimes, the logo is still, especially when plastering older logos.
- A short version exists.
- A widescreen version starts out stretched, but after we exit the Colosseum, the logo squishes back to 4:3 on a blurred and stretched version of the background. One version has this variant fading out early, right when the logo starts turning 2D.
- A French variant of the byline exists, reading "Coliseum est une marque déposée de Divertissement Cookie Jar inc." and can be found on French dubs of shows like season 1 of Johnny Test.
- On Spider Riders, the font for the byline is different.
- Sometimes, the URL is absent.
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A tribal drumbeat with a Greek-esque choir and synth backbeats near the end. Otherwise, the ending theme of the show.
Availability: It was seen on Dark Oracle, Spider Riders, and the second season of Johnny Test. It also appeared tacked on the end of the company's DVD releases of Are You Afraid of the Dark? and current prints of Journey to the West: Legends of the Monkey King, as well as some DVD releases of Johnny Test season 1. Since Coliseum's closure in 2008, most current prints of these shows have this logo plastered with the Cookie Jar logo.
