Columbia Music Video is the music video and DVD division of Columbia Records, a record label owned by Sony Music Entertainment. The division was folded in 2009, following the restructuring of Sony Music with acquiring Bertelsmann AG's stakes in the company.
1st Logo (1993-2006)
Visuals: Same as the CMV Enterprises logo, but the white text "ENTERPRISES" is replaced with the white text "COLUMBIA MUSIC VIDEO".
Technique: CGI.
Audio: Same as the CMV Enterprises and SMV Enterprises logos.
Availability: Seen mainly on DVD releases of music-related films as well as titles from Columbia Records artists, like Pink Floyd: The Wall, released by MGM/UA Home Video. It is seen on many DualDisc releases as well, but is often hidden in the bonus features. For example, the logo can be accessed on the DualDisc of John Mayer's Heavier Things by accessing the bonus features menu and selecting the short The Paul Reddy Show.
2nd Logo (2006-2009)
Visuals: On a black background, there is a red, 3-D version of the Columbia Records "Walking Eye" logo, spinning its parts around. Then, the eye zooms out and mends all of its parts together to the left of the screen as a box slowly fades in over it. Then the words "COLUMBIA MUSIC VIDEO" in chrome and in the same font as the CBS logo (Didot), flickers itself in.
Trivia: The "Walking Eye" logo debuted in 1953, while the current design made its debut in 1961. It's supposed to represent a stylus (the legs) above a vinyl record (the eye).
Technique: CGI.
Audio: A series of whooshes that end in a dark and grungy echoing guitar lick.
Availability: Appeared on later music DVDs from the company. It also appeared on the Walmart bonus DVD of iCarly: Music from and Inspired by the Hit TV Show.
