These are the logo variations seen on trailer throughout the years by Columbia Pictures, with more to be added overtime.

Tootsie and Gandhi (both 1982): At the end of the TV spot, the 1981 logo has the MPAA "PG" rating and the copyright info on the background as well. Also, the company name is removed. A small Columbia print logo can also be seen.


Texasville (1990): Exactly the same as The Last Picture Show variant.


My Girl (1991): The 1981 Columbia Torch Lady is wearing a Santa hat and it's snowing on the logo. This was only used on TV spots for the film.


Mo' Money (1992): The Torch Lady's torch flickers twice. Only seen on the international TV spot.



Year of the Comet (1992): The camera zooms in on the 1981 logo and fades into the Scottish Highlands.


Last Action Hero (1993): The 1942 logo is used.


Striking Distance (1993): The logo gets zapped by lightning.


The American President (1995, North America): The logo is more zoomed-in and boxed-in than usual. Seen on the theatrical trailer and tv spot.



The Net (1995): A black mouse arrow appears on the logo, and it clicks the torch lady and dissolves it like a TV screen. Only seen on one TV spot.



Multiplicity (1996): The Torch Lady splits herself twice. One clone is on the lower-left hand corner of the screen and the other on the lower-right. Only appeared on the TV spot.

The Cable Guy (1996): The logo rumbles when the door knock is heard. Only seen on the trailer and TV spots.



Men in Black (1997): The Torch Lady flashes away.


The Replacement Killers (1998): The logo directly shrinks & zooms out. Only seen on the theatrical trailer.

On the TV spot, the logo flashes twice.

  • On the International trailer, it is the same variantion, but the byline was added.

Blue Streak (1999): It starts off with a close-up of the torch, then a far shot of the Torch Lady, a shot of the torch and the head. Then it goes to the complete logo with the "COLUMBIA" and Sony byline. It turns blue and stretches out.


Stuart Little (1999): The logo cross-fades to the Little family's house on the outskirts of New York City. Only on the theatrical trailer.

  • On one version of the trailer, the logo flashes to a white screen.


  • On the TV Spot, snow falls over the logo.


Columbia TriStar Films Website Australian Promo (Late 1990s): Same as The Net variant for the TV Spot, but it is open-matted.



Vertical Limit (2000): The logo flickers like on a problematic screen.

  • On the UK VHS version of The 6th Day previews, it's the same variant and it is open-matted.

What Planet Are You From? (2000): Some of the nebulas fly in on the logo, which fades out a second later.


Hollow Man (2000): The logo turns icy. On the one TV spot, it's the same variation but the logo plays at warp-speed.


The Wedding Planner (2001): The Torch Lady is dressed in a wedding dress, she's holding a bouquet, and the pedestal is decorated.


Spider-Man (2002): After the scene of lower Manhattan skyline of New York City crossfades to the logo, it has no company name and byline. Seen on one version of the trailer (the alternate teaser trailer of the movie).


  • On the original teaser trailer, the logo zooms and the Torch lady's torch flashes back to the beginning and then to the bank robbery scene.


  • On the second theatrical trailer, the logo disappears for a second and fades out.


  • On one version of TV spot, the logo swipes to the left to reveal Peter Parker as Spider-Man.



Men in Black II (2002): The Torch Lady wears the trademark Men in Black sunglasses. Also, the logo's color is different and much brighter than normal.


  • On the teaser trailer, when the logo is done, it goes back to the beginning and fades into space.



I Spy (2002): The logo flashes white twice. Then, it flashes blue and four screens showing the logo are seen for a split-second before turning back to normal.


Stuart Little 2 (2002): The logo zooms in and cross-fades to a movie clip. Seen on the TV Spot.


On another TV Spot, the logo is blurry for a second and returns normal.



Identity (2003): The logo is in the midst of a torrential downpour and lightning strikes twice during the logo. Only on the teaser trailer.


Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines (2003, Non-US version):

  • The logo is tinted in light-blue. Only on the theatrical trailer.


  • On the teaser trailer, when the logo is complete, the Torch Lady turns into liquid metal and melts.



National Security (2003): The logo morphs into a map.

Once Upon a Time in Mexico (2003): The Torch Lady blurs and blows up to the Dimension Films logo. It zooms back slightly, then fades out.


The Missing (2003): The background turns into a dark forest. The "COLUMBIA" and Sony byline disappear with a silhouette of the Torch Lady. It fades to black with the Revolution Studios logo.


Columbia TriStar Home Entertainment DVD Australian Promo (Late 1990s-2004): The logo is tinted in gold and is open-matte, with the pedestal floating.


The Punisher (2004, International): At the end of the trailer, the 1981 print logo is used. Only seen on the Italian trailer.

  • On the short international trailer version, the logo flashes at once.

Spider-Man 2 (2004): The logo is blurry at the beginning, it goes back to normal while the clouds cover up, and cross-fades into the skyline of New York City.

  • On the international trailer, it's the same variation but the clouds cover into a black screen.



Bewitched (2005): The clouds are white, and the camera pans to the right of the logo, ending in the clouds.


The Fog (2005): The logo starts to turn foggy and the Revolution Studios logo is placed on a black background for a few seconds until fading away to a lake.


Monster House (2006): A leaf falls into the logo and cuts to the next scene.


Open Season (2006): The logo is shown with a TV border around it.


Casino Royale (2006): Same as the movie itself, but the Torch lady's torch flashes into Metro-Goldwyn Mayer in the beginning, and then to the Columbia logo.



Superbad (2007): Same as the movie itself, but sped up and bylineless. On the TV spots, the same variant is shown with a Sony byline.


The Water Horse: Legend of the Deep (2007): The 1993 Columbia Torch Lady is wearing a Santa hat and it's snowing on the logo.


Spider-Man 3 (2007):

  • The 1993 logo turns diagonally to reveal Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson lying down on a web.


  • On the TV spots and one featurette, the background turns grey while the text "COLUMBIA" gets symbioted. On one TV spot, it's the same variant but the camera zooms out to Black Suit Spider-Man's left eye.
  • A still version of the 1993 logo is seen on a billboard as the camera moves left, set in Times Square, New York. Seen on the video game of the same name.



Ghost Rider (2007): The logo cross-fades to the Marvel logo. Only on the theatrical trailer.



Hancock (2008): The camera goes past the logo on the left and fades into the clouds. Only on the teaser trailer.

Pineapple Express (2008): On one TV spot, the logo is in black and white while the Torch Lady is tinted in yellow and circles cover the logo.


2012 (2009): Same as the movie itself.


Michael Jackson's This Is It (2009): The sky background is far darker than usual and a white light surrounds the logo.


Funny People (2009): The logo is bylineless.


Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs (2009): The torch is unlit and is slightly off-center from the U in Columbia, it is bylineless, and an orange-red (possibly tomato) sky rolls over the sky background. The narrator in the reel says, "Columbia Pictures presents...", then a sandwich knocks the Torch Lady out (a la the film variant), with a lower man-toned yell, and the narrator says, "The best movie I have ever seen." During this, lightning strikes all over the logo, and the sky covers the whole logo. Seen in the Early Development Reel. (Logo is at 1:00)


This variant is seen briefly in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.


Terminator: Salvation (2009, International):

  • The logo is in black and white negative, and static. Also, it is bylineless. Seen on the teaser trailer.


  • On the two official trailers, the logo is dark blue, and the bars appear on the top.


  • On a TV spot, it's the same variation but this time, the logo is boxed on the left and The Halcyon Company is boxed on the right



Eat Pray Love (2010): The logo is animated in reverse and in warp speed. Only seen on the TV spot.


The Green Hornet (2011): It's exactly the same as the 2012 variant, but the lens flare is tinted in asparagus.


Men in Black 3 (2012): The Torch Lady wears the trademark Men in Black sunglasses, her torch is replaced with a neuralyzer, the byline fades in early, and the logo is darker with a blue tint.

One TV spot has this variant, but the logo plays in reverse.


The Amazing Spider-Man (2012): The logo is in a shade of gray, and there is a web behind the Torch Lady's torch. Plus, the SPE byline is slightly bigger, and is shifted up. Only seen on theatrical trailer and featurette.
