1st Logo (1998-2000)

Visuals: The 1997-2000 logo for Comedy Central on a black background.

Technique: A digital graphic.

Audio: None.

Availability: Seen on Comedy Central VHS releases of the era, including South Park volumes on VHS.

2nd Logo (2003-2004)

Visuals: The screen pans off the 2000 Comedy Central logo with the text "HOME VIDEO", blue-yellow on a blue background. Its parts begin to spin and then form back together.

Trivia: This logo is based on the 2000-04 Comedy Central ident package.

Technique: CGI by EyeballNYC.

Audio: A short techno tune, followed by the last five notes, based off Comedy Central's signature jingle from 2000-2004.

Availability: Seen on a DVD release of season 1 of Chapelle's Show.

3rd Logo (2004-2006)

Visuals: On a blue smudged background, the screen zooms into a flicking CRT TV with the 2000 Comedy Central logo bulging out of it, after which the Comedy Central Home Video logo spins in and bounces back on the same background.

Technique: 2D CGI by INTERspectacular.

Audio: A groovy guitar and drum tune.

Availability: Seen on Comedy Central DVDs of the era, such as Reno 911! The Complete Second Season.

4th Logo (2006-2009)

Visuals: The white Comedy Central logo is seen printed on a wooden fence. The logo shakes and explodes into a flock of stars, but then fades back to the wall with "DVD" below and surrounded by stars.

Technique: 2D CGI.

Audio: An exploding sound, followed by a short groove tune and a whinny.

Availability: Seen on the South Park director's cut DVD of "Imaginationland" among other home video releases, such as the region 4 DVD release of season 6 of South Park.

5th Logo (2009-2011)

Visuals: The Comedy Central logo is seen with glass flying by on a black background. Suddenly, the logo zooms out, with more glass coming through it. Then a black tilted square zooms out with the text "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" forming on it. Some of the glass tiles tilt.

Variant: A DVD variant exists with different animation. On a black background, the screen zooms out to reveal a black circle. Then, multiple Comedy Central logos circling around the ring zoom out. Then another black circle with more Comedy Central logos zoom out. Some more logos and later many circles zoom out until one last logo is seen. Multiple shots of it later appear with the logo in different directions. After that, a closeup of it is take as "DVD" slides in. The High Definition version also uses this variant, with "DVD" being replaced by "IN HIGH DEFINITION" sliding in word by word.

Technique: CGI. The variant is mostly 2D animation.

Audio: Mostly glass sounds, sometimes with an audience cheering at the end.

Audio Variants:

  • The DVD variant uses the same rough guitar tune from the 2005 Comedy Central syndication logo.
  • The High Definition variant uses a hip-hop version of the South Park end credits music.

Availability: Seen on Comedy Central's home media releases of the era, especially those in the Netherlands. The DVD and High Definition variants are seen on select DVD and Blu-ray releases. [Examples?]

6th Logo (2011-2023)

Visuals: On a cyan background, the 2011 Comedy Central logo (or "Comedymark") appears in black, then turns white on black as it zooms further in, followed by "COMEDY CENTRAL" appearing from a side fade-in. Two quick cut images of it (a mirrored "CENTRAL" black on white, and "COMEDY" white on yellow) are seen, after which the screen zooms to the top right corner of "CENTRAL" to reveal the Comedymark posing as a copyright symbol. Three more quick cut images (close-ups of "HOME" black on white, and "ENTERTAINMENT" both white on yellow and black on white, the latter of which is barely visible) appear, after which the cyan Comedymark zooms in and shifts up as "COMEDY CENTRAL" appears from a central fade-in. "HOME ENTERTAINMENT" in white appears underneath, and "CENTRAL" mirrors at the same time.

Technique: 2D computer animation by The Lab.

Audio: A remix of the Comedy Central music cue of the era.

Availability: Seen on post-2011 DVD releases of South Park, among other releases. This logo is no longer in use as of the South Park: The Complete Twenty-Sixth Season, South Park: The Streaming Wars, and South Park: Joining the Panderverese Blu-rays and DVDs, which now use the main Paramount Home Entertainment logo, as will all future Comedy Central DVD and Blu-ray releases.
