Background

D'Ocon Films (formerly D'Ocon Films Productions) is a Catalonian animation studio that was founded in 1976 by Antoni D'Ocon and is headquartered in Barcelona. Over the years, it has become infamous for the low-budget values of its productions, relying heavily on limited animation, repeated background music and animation getting reused.

D'Ocon Films Productions

1st Logo (1990-June 23, 1996)

Visuals: Against a green gradient background, a paintbrush appears and paints in the words "D'Ocon Films Productions" in a script-type font. Different rainbow colors travel through inside the text as the paintbrush leaves. The paintbrush returns and writes either "presents" in Paint Brush MT, or "présente" in Magistral (depending on the language), and leaves again. It then zooms in.

Variants:

  • On Tutti Frutti (the Italian dub of The Fruitties), the logo freezes before "presents" is written, and "presenta", in ITC Korinna, types itself in. The entire logo zooms in as normal.
  • A later version of this logo has shortened text and has an improved rainbow effect that travels in reverse, "presents" is in white, and the logo does not zoom in at the end. This was not known to have been used with the green background, however it is the basis for the three variants described below.
    • On Sylvan, the background is an orange/yellow gradient.
    • On season 1 of Problem Child (an animated TV adaptation of the 1990 family film), the background is a night sky. Since this is used here as a closing logo, the paintbrush moves up and disappears after it wipes in the name, therefore "presents" is omitted.
    • On Delfy, the background is a white/blue gradient. The paintbrush writes "y" instead, and the stacked text "Antena 3 Televisión presentan" appears below in black.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: A short cheery tune with pencil noises when the brush swipes in, or the opening/ending theme of the show.

Availability:

  • The original version is only known to have appeared on older prints of The Fruitties.
  • The Sylvan, Problem Child and Delfy variants appear on their respective shows.
  • Current prints of at least The Fruitties and Delfy usually plaster it with later logos.

2nd Logo (June 6, 1997-August 30, 2004)

Visuals: On a space background, "D'Ocon Films Productions", in the same font as before, slides in, zooms out and settles. "Presents" or "Presenta" fades in underneath shortly after.

Variants:

  • A prototype variant exists where the text doesn't zoom out. This appeared on later prints of Sylvan.
  • A very short version exists.
  • Sometimes, the "Presents" text doesn't appear.
  • On Scruff, the color saturation is lowered, and the starfield doesn't have as much blue as in other versions.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Originally a triumphant fanfare based on the theme song to The Fruitties (which the previous logo may or may not have used at some point). Later on, two synth notes, followed by a seven-note trumpet tune also adapted from the theme song to The Fruitties.

Audio Variants:

  • On at least Cartoon Network UK airings of The Fruitties, it was silent.
  • On some prints of Delfy, a redone version of the short cheery tune from the previous logo is heard.
  • On Pocket Dragon Adventures, the theme is lower-pitched.

Availability: Seen on Pocket Dragon Adventures on DVD, as well as later prints of Basketball Fever, The Fruitties and Sylvan. Also seen on Enigma, The Little Witches and early episodes of Scruff.

D'Ocon Films

Logo (August 31, 2004-)

Visuals: Over a view of a globe with water on it, the text "D'Ocon Films" flies in and glows with an island shown on the globe. Everything then glows.

Variants:

  • Some videos (such as trailers) on the D'Ocon Films YouTube channel contain only the last few seconds of the logo.
  • A redone version of this logo has also been used, with the text just reading "D'Ocon".

Technique: CGI.

Audio: Same as the second music variant of the previous logo, but sounding more like it was done on a MIDI synthesizer and with a more majestic finish.

Audio variant: On the Serbian dub of the Scruff on the Kanal D channel, it has the previous logo's theme, due to a some sloppy plaster.

Availability: Seen on D'Ocon's YouTube channel, and their current reprints of other shows, like Kumba Island. It first appeared on the Scruff episode "Scruff, no te dejaré nunca" (which according to the Catalan SX3 website, is season 3's first episode in production order).
