Background

DNEG Animation is the animated film subsidiary of the visual effects studio DNEG (formerly Double Negative). It was founded in 2014, but didn't release its first production, Ron's Gone Wrong, with 20th Century Studios, TSG Entertainment, and Locksmith Animation, until 2021. Films from the studio include (the now-cancelled) Coyote vs. Acme with Warner Bros. Pictures Animation, The Garfield Movie with Columbia Pictures and Alcon Entertainment, and the upcoming The Angry Birds Movie 3 with Rovio Entertainment and Sega Sammy Group.

Logo (2018)

Visuals: On a white background, the black letters "DNEG" sit on the floor, showing their reflections and shadows and the "E" and "G" appear to be unaligned. A soldier of the Queen's Guard marches over to the letters with a serious look on his face. He is holding a giant pencil instead of a gun. He stands facing the audience with his pencil upright for a second, before he notices the unaligned letters. He uses his pencil as a ladder to climb up the "E", and jumps from there onto the "G", rolling it into place as the "E" falls the correct way, the soldier himself falls, and the pencil falls behind the "E".

Trivia: The Queen's Guard soldier seems to be the mascot of the studio. In addition to the actual logo, he is also seen in this short, where he is joined by a robot guard, and another, where he is wearing a mask and leaves his post so that a healthcare worker can stand in his place.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: The Queen's Guard soldier's footsteps and grunts.

Availability: Unused. It was uploaded to DNEG's Vimeo in 2018.
