Background

This is the home video division of Daiei Co., Ltd. It went defunct and was absorbed into Kadokawa Video.

1st Logo (1984-1986)

Logo: It's simply a print version of the next logo fading in and out on a blue background.

Technique: None.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Rare. Seen on early Daiei Video VHS releases from the era.

2nd Logo (1986-1999)

Logo: We see some quick flashes as the stars flying out with green lines, then the golden-yellow letter "V" with two straight lines each on top appears, placing on the center on a dark blue background. The green star flashes on the "V" the lines extend as the words appear "DAIEI" and "IDEO" to make a complete word "DAIEIVIDEO." They shine.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A synth fanfare.

Availability: Common. Seen on Japanese VHS, VHD and Laserdisc tapes from this company, such as anime titles and releases of Daiei movies.

3rd Logo (1999-2003)

Logo: On a smokey background, with lines moving, we see blue and white letters moving from each other. It quickly rotates, and then the letters of "DAIEI VIDEO" appear in a plain 3D font. The letters and lines disappear, and the background turns black.

Technique: CGI.

Music/Sounds: A xylophone theme, and a whooshes, culminating in a synth note.

Availability: Seen on later Japanese VHS and DVD releases, like Nagoriyuki.
