Background

Daltelefilm was a Soviet and later Russian television film production company. It was founded in January 1968 to produce documentary chronicles about Soviet Far East. It was the only film studio in Far East, based in the city of Vladivostok. They closed in September 1994, transferring assets to national broadcasting holding VGTRK.

1st Logo (1968-1972)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a curved four-sided polygon on the top right section of the screen containing the sun with long, transparent rays and a ship against a shore setting. Underneath it is "VLADIVOSTOK" in Russian. On the bottom of the screen is the company name in aforementioned language.

Technique: A still printed image

Audio: None.

Availability: Only known to have appeared on Полтора часа до объятий.

2nd Logo (1972-1978)

Visuals: On a white background, there is a stylized drawing of a model ship on a rod. The screen zooms out and reveals the object inside a partially cut circle against a gray background. Below it is the name in Cyrillic, "ДАЛЬТЕЛЕФИЛЬМ" and the city name "ВЛАДИВОСТОК".

Technique: Camera-controlled animation.

Audio: A set of high-pitched, eerie chimes.

Audio Variants:

  • Sometimes, a bell rendition of the jingle is heard.
  • In some cases, the logo is silent.

Availability: It was seen on black and white films from this period such as На най человек земли, На траверзе мыса Эримо, and one of its last appearances, Встречи у океана. The bell variant was seen on Дрейфующий остров and Заповедник у кромки прибоя.

3rd Logo (1973-1981)

Visuals: On an aqua background, a different ship model is inside the Sun and on top of stylized waves. Underneath it is "ДАЛЬТЕЛЕФИЛЬМ" in gold and "ВЛАДИВОСТОК" in an arc curved downward.

Variant: On later versions, the background color is lavender

Technique: A still printed image

Audio: Same as before. Otherwise, none.

Availability: It appeared on color films such as Хабаровск and На 60-й параллели. The later variant can be seen on Этажи над морем.

4th Logo (1978)

Visuals: On a brown background are the letters "D", "Т", and "Ф" stacked on top of one another. Shortly after the fade in, the "Т" and "D" are colored white and all letters gain a white shadow. They spread out and reveal the rest of the letters in the company name in white. A few seconds later, the three initial letters merge back as the background crossfades to blue. The letters are now inside a brown circle with "ВЛАДИВОСТОК" in white underneath the logo.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: The opening theme of the movie.

Availability: It was seen on Амур-батюшка.

5th Logo (1981-1987)

Visuals: This logo is similar to the 3rd logo except the ship has more simpler details, the waves are replaced with a dark blue bar, and "VLADIVOSTOK" is in a normal font and format.

Technique: A still printed image

Audio: None or the opening theme of the movie.

Audio Variant: On Нанайский напев, a boing sound is heard.

Availability: It can be seen on Нулевой цикл, Залив здоровья, Праздники моего города, among others. Like before, the listed titles are obscure and hard to find.

6th Logo (1987-1990)

Visuals: A picture of a brown ship on top of a rod is shown against a tan background. It zooms out and reveals a dark blue background and the company name on the bottom of the screen. The picture is now positioned on the top right corner of the screen.

Variants:

  • An alternate variant exists where a different ship image is shown. Here, the ship is against a dark khaki background and is now standing on top of a black curve with a white bar underneath. The image also has a carpet-like texture to it. Additionally, the company name is in a normal font.
  • On В страну вулканов за зеленым голубем, the font for the company name is changed to a serif font.
  • On Монолог на фоне тайги, the logo is very dark.

Technique: Cel animation.

Audio: None or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: The normal variant can be seen on Кортик для адмирала, Амба, Мамонтовы травы, and День, когда приплыла рыба.... The alternate variant was seen on Застава and Один среди зеркал'.

7th Logo (1990-1994)

Visuals: This is just the text "ДАЛЬТЕЛЕФИЛЬМ" in a Western-like serif font against a black background.

Variant: Sometimes, the logo is superimposed onto the opening shot of the movie.

Technique: A still printed image

Audio: None or the opening theme of the movie.

Availability: Seen on some of their later films such as Амазонки and И расцвел Гусевский камень. However, some films from the period just use an in-credit notice.
