1st Logo (23 November 1951-27 September 1954)

Logo: We see a live-action closeup of two tubular bells ringing. The camera pans from one bell to another, to the left. The words "DEAR" and "FILM" then zoom up from the bell to the center. "presenta" then zooms up below.

Technique: Live-action and cel animation.

Audio: The sound of the bells.

Music/Sounds Variant: The pitch was noticably higher on I tre ladri.

Availability: Appears on distributed 35mm films across Italy. Was spotted on Era lui, sì, sì!, Umberto D., Buongiorno, elefante!, and I tre ladri.

2nd Logo (20 December 1952-1958)

Logo: An in-credit logo where we see a tilted bell with "DEAR FILM" in a stacked format plastered onto a bell inside of a white ring.

Variants:

  • "presenta" may also show up on the bottom, either in capital or lowercase.
  • On Puccini, the logo is black.

Technique: Mainly cel animation.

Audio: The opening/closing score, or none.

Availability: Used in tandem with the previous logo. Was spotted on an Italian print of Limelight, Puccini, Ti ho sempre amato!, and Perdonami!, Gli amori di Manon Lescaut, Pietà per chi cade, and an Italian trailer The Gun Runners.

3rd Logo (as Dear International) (31 August 1956-22 February 1974)

Logo: On a blue background, the new logo in the middle is now seen with the bell tilting towards the right and the text now simply reads "DEAR". The bottom-half of the ring displays "INTERNATIONAL".

Variants: On an Italian print of The Gold Rush, the bell is completely white and "INTERNATIONAL" is in a Eurostile Bold Extended-like font.

Technique: Mainly cel animation.

Audio: The opening/closing score, or none.

Availability: So far spotted on an Italian print of The Gold Rush, and Simona.
