Background

This is David Spade's production company.

1st Logo (August 8-15, 2000)

Visuals: In front of a desert background (complete with cacti, mountains, and an animal skull), there is a smiling rat with a tuft of blonde hair wearing cutoff jeans and a sleeveless white T-shirt. He's holding a beverage and giving the peace sign. To the left of him, there are the words "DESERT RAT" in a stylized font.

Technique: Digital ink-and-paint.

Audio: None.

Availability: This was only seen on Sammy, which was only aired twice before NBC retired their animated sitcom block.

Legacy: Before its mid-2021 rediscovery, Sammy was considered a prime example of lost media. For decades, the only surviving evidence of the show were promotional stills, newspaper ads, and character design sheets. By extension, this logo would have also been considered lost media, making it a contender for one of the most obscure logos of all-time (second only to the partially-found T.A.T. Communications logo).

2nd Logo (July 29, 2019-)

Visuals: On a white background with a gray outer vignette, there is a cartoon illustration of an unconscious brown rat wearing red boxers, falling, and hitting the ground. A red cup falls out of his hand and rolls beside the rat. To the right of him, the words "desert rat" appear letter-by-letter in a typewriter font.

Technique: 2D computer animation.

Audio: The sounds of the typewriter typing with a dropping sound or the closing theme.

Availability: Can be seen on Lights Out with David Spade on Comedy Central as well as The Netflix Afterparty on Netflix.
