Background

Dolphin Production Company was an early computer animation company based in New York.

1st Logo (1974-1979)

Visuals: The screen fades in on a lime green circle with a dolphin outline inside it. As it leaps out, the screen zooms out to reveal the circle is part of the second "i" in "Dolphin Productions, inc.", which is set over a starfield background. The dolphin then lands in the "o".

Technique: Scanimate.

Audio: A slide whistle sound (which sounds like a police siren), promptly interrupted by an echoing electronic arpeggio, which gets quieter and quieter.

Availability: Seen on demo reels of Dolphin's work.

2nd Logo (June 28, 1985)

Visuals: On a purple background, a blanket of water with a yellow full moon is shown. The moon is seen rising, and with it is shiny golden text coming out of the water one by one. The text read out the company name, with more text saying "New York" below.

Technique: Scanimate.

Audio: A funky rock tune.

Availability: Seen on a demo reel from company that dates to June 28, 1985.
