Background

This is Don Cornelius' vanity card.

1st Logo (October 2, 1971-June 23, 1990)

Visuals: As superimposed on Soul Train, scrolling up we see "dcp" in a rounded font. Under that is "A DON CORNELIUS PRODUCTION".

Technique: None.

Trivia: The print version of this logo can be seen in the Signature Gallery in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame above Don Cornelius's signature since his induction in 2023.

Audio: The end theme. Announcer Sid McCoy would say "This has been a Don Cornelius Production." From 1980-1982, this would be followed by "...in association with Tribune Entertainment."

Availability: It's found on all episodes of Soul Train from the era currently aired on Bounce TV and occasionally on Centric.

2nd Logo (September 26, 1992-September 20, 2008)

Visuals: On a black background, there is a blue light. The light rotates with the letters "dcp" in the same rounded font as before. "DON CORNELIUS PRODUCTIONS" rotate next to it. This ends up straight in this result:

dc DON CORNELIUS
p PRODUCTIONS

When this happens, the light disappears.

Technique: CGI.

Audio: A synth chord.

Availability: Seen on season 22 onwards of Soul Train on Bounce TV and occasionally on Centric.
