Background

This is Don Cornelius' vanity card.

1st Logo (October 2, 1971-June 23, 1990)

Nicknames: "dcp", "The DCP Logo"

Logo: As superimposed on Soul Train, scrolling up we see "dcp" in a rounded font. Under that is "A DON CORNELIUS PRODUCTION".

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds/Voice-over: The end theme. Announcer Sid McCoy would say "This has been a Don Cornelius Production". From 1980-1982, this would be followed by "...In association with Tribune Entertainment".

Availability: Uncommon. It's found on all episodes of Soul Train from the era currently aired on Bounce TV and occasionally on Centric.

2nd Logo (September 26, 1992-September 20, 2008)

Nicknames: "CGI DCP", "dcp II"

Logo: On a black background, we see a blue light. The blue light rotates the letters "dcp" in a rounded font. "DON CORNELIUS PRODUCTIONS" rotate next to it. This ends up straight in this result:

dc-------DON CORNELIUS
p---------------PRODUCTIONS--

when this happens, the blue light disappears.

FX/SFX: The rotating logo.

Music/Sounds: A synth chord.

Availability: Seen on season 22 onwards of Soul Train on Bounce TV and occasionally on Centric.
