Background

Five Star Production Co., Ltd. (Thai: ไฟว์สตาร์ โปรดักชั่น) is the one of the first major Thai film production companies, founded in 1973 by Kiat Lamphungphorn and is today headed by his younger brother, Charoen Lamphungporn, and Kiat's children. Its first film was The War Lord and has since grew popular and major with its (now) infamous Tears of the Black Tiger, which apparently tells a story about a monk's early adult life as a generous thief.

1st Logo (1975-1977)

Logo: On a black background, there are five white stars with a green-yellow gradient sits there along with Five Star's Thai name, all on the black background.

Trivia: This is the very first logo of the company. As it doesn't feature the globe, this is the early stage of the logo.

Technique: Likely none.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Near extinct.

2nd Logo (1977-1978)

Logo: On a black background with star shining, we see a silver five stars are seen below, After that, the modelled globe (similar to Bola Dunia Films logo) fades in on the top of five stars, Below, there is a Thai translation in yellow and the plain yellow line shrinks to form the English text "FIVE STAR PRODUCTION" in an Arial font.

Technique: A mix of live-action and cel animation.

Music/Sounds: A Thai-sounding triumphant fanfare.

Availability: Extremely rare. Appeared only on Thep Phabut Tah Ting Nong and Teng Pah Tah Ting Nong.

3rd Logo (1978-1992)


Logo: On a space background, we see a spinning globe zooming in. Five silver stars zoom out one-by-one and sparkle, placing themselves above the globe arched. The globe flashes and the company name in Thai zooms in and places itself below the globe. The stars continue to sparkle.

Technique: Same as previous logo.

Music/Sounds: A stock horn fanfare with sound effects being synced to the stars appearing.

Availability: Very rare. Seen on Five Star Production's movies from 1978 to 1992, such as Look Thung, The Story of Nampoo, Butterfly and Flowers.

4th Logo (1992-1997)

Logo:' On a blue space background, we see a rock flies to the right. The golden ring zooms out by trailing and stops zooming by forming the world map. It then creates an wireframe world by spinning, with more rings coming from the top and the bottom. The five golden stars fly to the top of the world, and then the Thai name of the company zooms out by trailing.

Technique: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: A synthesized fanfare with whoosh and laser sounds.

Availability: Very rare. Seen on its films from that period, such as Crazy Flights and Fun Bar Karaoke.
