Background

GMA Network (Global Media Arts or simply GMA) is a Philippine free-to-air television and radio network. It is the flagship property of publicly traded GMA Network, Inc. Its first broadcast on television was on October 29, 1961. GMA Network (formerly known as Republic Broadcasting System, GMA Radio-Television Arts, and GMA Rainbow Satellite Network) is commonly referred to as the Kapuso Network referencing the outline of the company's logo. It is headquartered in the GMA Network Center in Quezon City and its transmitter, Tower of Power, is located at Tandang Sora Avenue, Barangay Culiat also in Quezon City with regional stations and offices strategically located in over 9 major cities across the country.

Visuals: In a space background (which is from the intro of Star Trek), several metallic models of the GMA "Circle 7" logo can be seen turning sideways, while a model of their 1977 logo zooms in from the bottom-right of the screen. The screen then (presumably) fades in to the GMA "Circle 7" logo on a white background before cutting to a next scene, which follows the same process as the previous scene. However this time, a model of their slogan, "Where You Belong!" in a fancy font, replaces the 1977 logo.

Trivia:

  • The production for this logo costed under ₱100.
  • The station ID only took the merchandising team two weeks to make.

Technique: Chroma-keying effects, mixed with the live-action 3D models.

Audio: The background music for this logo is called "Distant Planets", a jingle composed by Pepper Tanner, with Bert Liboon as the announcer.

Availability: The process of how this logo was made and the images of this logo were seen in an article from an August 1979 issue of TV Times.

Audio: The logo has a narrator saying: "This is GMA, the Largest, the Most Powerful, & the Best. Now joining the ranks of the World's Finest!" followed by a female rendition of their slogan "Where You Belong!"

Availability: Very few variations of the logo exist. & The only surviving footage is not of its best quality.

3rd ID (1992-1995)

Visuals: On a daytime sky background, a light flashes then dies down to reveal a mirrored G, zooming out to reveal the letters "GMA" as well as the rainbow. The logo rotates to its front position, while the rainbow briefly obscures the view. It reveals an updated version of the previous logo with the "GMA" letters being blue, the rainbow being perfectly curved and the satellite being removed. A flash below the logo reveals the tagline "WHERE YOU BELONG".

Variant: On a Ghost Fighter commercial on the network, a short version of the logo plays with the slogan "WHERE HEROES BELONG" fading under.
