Background

KTLA, virtual channel 5 (UHF digital channel 35), is a CW-affiliated television station licensed to Los Angeles, California, United States. The station is the largest directly-owned property of Nexstar Media Group. KTLA's studios are located at the Sunset Bronson Studios on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, and its transmitter is located atop Mount Wilson. It is the second-largest CW affiliate by market size that is not owned and operated by either of the network's co-owners, ViacomCBS or AT&T's WarnerMedia.

1st Logo (1947–1957)

Nickname: "The Mountain"

Logo: In a black and white version on a lake background, we see a mountain below with many stars on top, next, the stars zoom in, moves, and become inverted with a circle zooms out around the stars, forming the Paramount Pictures logo on a white background, then, we see the broadcast or radio tower fades on top of the mountain, with the tower transmitting, then, we see the letters "KTLA" appears one-by-one in the middle of the tower, it stops transmitting, then, we see the word "Television Productions, Inc." writes below the mountain.

FX/SFX: The stars zoom in, the circle zooms out, and transmitting.

Music/Sounds: An announcer saying "This is KTLA Television Los Angeles, owned and operated by Television Productions, Inc. A service of Paramount Pictures. With studios joining the Paramount often Hollywood, transmitting from Mount Wilson, California on television channel number 5 with frequency of 76 to 82 megacycles. Again tonight, we're ready to bring you a full evening of television entertainment, from now until 7 o'clock, watch the news go by, and listen to recorded music as you align your receivers for best reception of KTLA."

2nd Logo (1957-195?)

Logo: On a superimposed credit of The Polka Parade, we see the words "Produced in cooperation with" on the top, below it there's a rectangle with "KTLA" on the left, next to it, there's a play button triangle with the word "CHANNEL" on it, next to it, there’s a outline circle with the large number "5" on it.

FX/SFX: None.

Music/Sounds: The end theme of The Polka Parade.

3rd Logo (1967-1977?)

Nickname: The Spinning 5

Logo: We see there's 4 number "5" are spinning around, 3 of them flashing and then disappear. We suddenly cut to the "Orange 5" zoom in, at the same time the text "GWB-LOS ANGELES" fade in. Finally, we see the letter "KTLA" zoom into the "5" tail.

FX/SFX: The spinning, the zoom in and the fade in.

Music/Sounds: A bombastic fanfare, with the announcer saying: "This is channel 5, KTLA Los Angeles. With the reminder not to waste energy, how many lights are on in your house right now?".
