Background: KUED is the PBS station affiliate located in Salt Lake City, Utah.

1st Logo

(1985-1993)

Nicknames: "The Live-Action Mountain"

Logo: Against a live-action background of a snow-capped peak that we fly over, we see the letters "KUED" in an Aero Extended font with cuts on the"E" & "D", colored spring green, brightly flashing and below that, the words "Salt Lake City" in a thin futuristic font, but smaller and colored red-orange, wipe in via a star, just like in the Hanna-Barbera Home Video logo, and a few stars can be seen blinking on the logo, even as we fade out.

Variant: Sometimes, there's a longer version that exists. Over the peak, the logo animates in a similar fashion to the 1980Telepictures logo, only it goes downward rather than upward. Then after the flash the logo continues as normal.

FX/SFX: The flash, the wiping in of the logo.

Music/Sounds: A loud, squeaky, five-note synth-chime tune that seems to get so loud. The longer variant has two synth-tuba notes along with a Ruby-Spears-esque "warbling" sound in the background, then continues as normal.

Availability: Rare.

Editor's Note: None.

2nd Logo (1992-1999)

Nickname: "The Glass Plate"

Logo: On a grey metallic background, a glass parallelogram slides down with "KUED" cut out of it. A gold bar with "SALT LAKE CITY" on it fades in, changing to "PRESENTS" when it shines.

FX/SFX: The glass plate.

Music/Sounds: A deep cello theme.

Availability: Rare. Appeared on Civic Dialogue, which can be viewed on the American Archive of Public Broadcasting.

Editor's Note: None.
