Goldstar Software, Ltd.

(December 16, 1994)

Logo: We see a square overlay of the four colors red, green, blue and yellow with a blobby background over it. The characters of "GoldStar" move from different sides of the screen before the whole logo then slides in along with "Software, Ltd." below, as the colored squares and blobby background fade out and the text turns golden.

FX/SFX: CGI animation.

Music/Sounds: None.

Availability: Seen on the PC game Take Back.

Goldstar LG Electronics

(1995)

Logo: A starry background fades in, and a blue arc of light wipes in as the red GoldStar logo slowly zooms in at the top of the screen. The LG Electronics logo fades in below, and a white spot glows in near the middle of the arc, covering the whole screen for a second while the 3DO shapes logo flips in at the left of the Goldstar/LG logos. The arc then disappears and leaves the rest of the elements.

FX/SFX: 2D computer animation rendered in FMV.

Music/Sounds: A low synth note, playing along with a 5-note string synth and cymbals / windchimes.

Availability: Seen on the 3DO ports for BC Racers and Primal Rage.

LG Software

1st Logo (1994-1996)

Logo: On a black background, white sparks come together to form the text "LG Software" in LG's corporate font of the time. Then. red sparks come together to the left of the text to form the LG symbol (a reddish-pinkish circle with a dot and the stylized letters LG, apparently meant to resemble a human face). The logo shines.

FX/SFX: The CGI animation rendered in FMV.

Music/Sounds: A lively synthesized fanfare.

Availability: Very rare. Spotted on later 3DO releases from the mid-90s including the Korean releases of Armageddon and Firewall.

2nd Logo (1995-1997)

Logo: On a black starry background, we see a red circle, a white line then forms followed with sparks from the top to the bottom in the circle and then it then the forming line turns right a little to form a L. Then another line forms across the red circle and stops in a quarter away from crossing the entire circle to turn left a little to form a G. Then a little dot in the left top corner inside the G forms. After the logo is completely formed like a face, it zooms in to the screen which the L covers the entire screen all in white until zooming back out with the red circle now in a middle top position, and after the face is zoomed back inside the red circle. A white blurry circle then appears behind the logo and zooms in covering the entire background expect for the logo. Then grey text slides with the text "LG" on the left side of the text and the right side of it being all Korean.

Trivia: The animation was clearly based off the LG Group's animated logo concept of the time.

Variants:

  • An early version exists, with the extended Korean text "LG소프트웨어" shown.
  • On Stone Axe: Search for Elysium, the text is changed to "LG미디어".

FX/SFX: The starfield, the logo drawing in, the zooming, the background turning white, and the text sliding in.

Music/Sounds: A short MIDI-sounding synth/string ditty with drums. None on earlier games.

Availability: Very rare. Seen on the 3DO game Battle Blues and the PC game Stone Axe: Search for Elysium. The early version appears on the DOS game 일지매전 ~만만파파식적편~ (Iljimae-jeon: Manman Papa Sikjeok-pyeon).

3rd Logo (1995)

Logo: TBA

FX/SFX: The comet bringing up the logo and the silver text zooming in.

Music/Sounds: TBA

Availability: Seen on the PC game Doraon Yeongung Hong Gildong.

4th Logo (1996)

Logo: Over a black background, we see the red circle as a spark draws in the face of the typical LG logo. The circle moves back into positions as the gray 3D text "LG미디어" (LG Media) flies in several directions. The text then spins quickly into place as the LG face is formed.

FX/SFX: The spark drawing in the logo and the animation of the 3D text.

Music/Sounds: A monotonous dramatic fanfare with synth drums.

Availability: Seen on the PC game Agi Gongnyong Dooly.
